Univision Radio Launches National Self-Help Radio Program with the Popular Dra. Isabel Gomez-Bassols

Dra. Isabel will be part of the line-up of RadioCadena Univision, Univision Radio’s new AM Network

Miami, FL — Univision Radio, the leading Spanish-language radio broadcaster, is proud to announce the addition of Dra. Isabel Gómez-Bassols, “La Doctora Isabel, el Angel de la Radio,” the nation’s most beloved Hispanic radio psychologist to the lineup of RadioCadena Univision, Univision Radio’s new AM Network.

“Doctora Isabel” airs across the country Monday through Friday from 1P-4P (Eastern Time).  The warm, thoughtful and charismatic doctor doles out expert opinions on a host of crucial issues such as parenting, marital relations, divorce, human sexuality, education, addictions, co-dependency, teen rebelliousness and violence.  Dra. Isabel’s current show receives an average of 8,000 telephone call attempts per day.

A renowned psychologist, educator and domestic-violence specialist with over three decades of experience in adolescent and family counseling, Dr. Isabel began her radio broadcast career in 1999 with Radio Unica.  She has worked both in both private practice and as a psychologist for the Miami-Dade County Public School System – the 4th largest school system in the United States.  In the 1980’s Dr. Isabel developed and implemented the model aggression control program for the Miami Public School System ultimately becoming Chair of the Psychological Services Department for

Alternative Education.  The National Association of School Psychologists has recognized Dr. Isabel as an expert on issues affecting Hispanic children and their parents.  As a result of her work and effective approach to counseling, she has been featured as a commentator on a variety of parenting/marital issues on the Univision Television Network.  She has also been a keynote speaker for numerous national conferences.

Dr. Isabel received a Doctoral degree in Early, Middle and Adolescent Behavior from Nova Southeastern University.   She holds a BA in Arts degree from the University of Miami and she received her Master in Counseling and Psychology from Florida International University.   She also holds a Specialist Degree from FIU in Psychology.   In addition, she has completed intensive specialty training in a variety of subjects, including sexual intimacy disorders, at the Masters & Johnson Institute.

In recent years, Dr. Isabel has also become a prolific author of culturally relevant, self-help books.  In 2003, she released “Los 7 Pasos para el Exito en la Vida” (“7 Steps for Success in Life”).   In 2002, she released “Los 7 Pasos Para el Éxito en el Amor” (“Seven Steps to Have Success in Love”).  In 2001, she released ¿Dónde Están Las Instrucciones Para Criar A Los Hijos?” (Where Are The Instructions For Raising Our Kids?), a best-selling parenting guide for raising happy, healthy and successful Hispanic children.   All of these books have appeared on the national best sellers list.

A mother of four and grandmother of six, Dr. Isabel has been a spokesperson for numerous efforts including the Texas Domestic Violence Initiative and she has been recipient of numerous awards and honors across the country.
